Atlanta Ford Plant Closes Forever
After many good years providing quality cars (the plant won several awards) and employment in the area, and being responsible for the success of the Chick-Fil-a franchise (first one located across the street from the plant), the Hapeville Assembly plant closed on Thursday October 26th with the last Taurus coming down the line (that car went to the owner of the Chick-Fil-a restaurants) at 7am in the morning.  Shortly after the employees left.  The posters and signs shown in the pictures below tell the rest of the tale.

Note that the big sign in the pictures has been used as a marker by pilots bringing planes into the Atlanta Airport next door.  Once that sign goes down, there may be a few lost planes!

Proof of how close the air traffic comes to that famous sign

Thanks to Bob Peterson of Georgia for taking these shots a few days after the closing as the actual closing day was cold and rainy.
