Convention #17, Seattle Caravan information

Every year, several people take it upon themselves to organize groups of SHO's traveling to the conventions. To help that process, if you want to be the organizer, please fill out the ONLINE FORM and let us know! If you want to be PART of a caravan, just look below and contact that caravan's organizer! We will post caravan info here for all to see. You can also send us an E-mail with your name, contact info and if organizing a route, the starting and stopping points and times for each day, and the stops along the way.

From the Central Illinois area

Here is an invitation to join us on the trip out west to Seattle! Let anyone you know about the trip and join us if you can along the way. We will be on FRS channel 8 and CB channel 8 in honor of the 2008 convention. (Thanks to Ron Porter for getting us organized on channels with this format from three years ago).

If you would like to meet up with us as we are driving out, please contact us over email at caravans@shoclub.com and we will coordinate on a place to meet up!

START: Washington, IL
- We will be leaving the Washington area right at 8AM and plan on making our lunch stop around Des Moines for lunch.
07-17-2008 - STOP # 1: Sioux Falls, SD - Comfort Suites
- Arrive around 5-6pm and stretch our legs at Falls Park as well as get some dinner.
- Leaving the next morning at 8AM and working to make it to Mount Rushmore just after 1pm.
- SITE SEE - MOUNT RUSHMORE - We currently are planning to stay at Mount Rushmore for a few hours or so to site see and then finish up driving up to Spearfish, SD. For those that do not wish to stop here, I believe Ron Porter's group is bypassing this and continuing straight on through.
07-18-2008 - STOP #2: Spearfish, SD - Howard Johnson Express
- There is currently a Corvette Rally (with its own group discount at hotels) planned at nearly all of the hotels in the Spearfish area, so finding a decent hotel at a discount is pretty tough. The next day is our longest driving day as we try to make it to the far side of Montana, just over 650 miles.
07-19-2008 - STOP #3: Missoula, MT - Sleep Inn of Missoula
- LUNCH STOP - We are working to make it to Billings, MT between 12 and 1pm to try and meet up with our friend Casey Hayes who lives in the area! More on this later.
- Arriving late, probably around 8-9pm.
07-20-2008 - END: Seattle, WA
- Arrive around 2 or 3

Ron Porter (rsporter@ameritech.net or via cell at 248-891-4760) will depart from the Detroit, MI area on Thursday July 17th, driving to Madison Wisconsin.

The primary Caravan will depart from Madison Wisconsin on Friday July 18th at 8:00 AM CDT, arriving at the Summit Lodge at Snoqualmie Pass on Sunday afternoon July 20th.
