In the picture below, the larger one comes from the SHO!   Frankly I was amazed, since the engines HP ratings are so close, and taking into account the much larger size of the Crown Vic, that its "horn" was so much smaller!  I have remedied that situation with some carefully chosen parts from my local True Value hardware store.  A rubber fitting goes into the airbox opening and a plastic drain pipe section gives the CV much improved breathing.  Combined with a K&N air filter I hope to see about 5 hp gain. 


Yes, the smaller one belongs to the V8!  Big engines are choked down just like manufacturers used to do in the 60's.  I have an air cleaner with a snorkel for a 350 Chevy that can be plugged totally with a ping-pong ball!   No wonder so many people flipped over the lids to let in more air!  If you are younger than 30 and don't know what "flipping your lid" means, other than going crazy, then find an "experienced" car nut that is a few years older, and ask!
