Cone of Silence TEST page! |
|
| Owners of the Ford Taurus SHO that are in "the know," are aware of the plastic horn in the inner fender that is part of the intake system. The main purpose of this horn is to cut down on noise for the E.P.A. If you remove this horn it opens up the air path a little and is the 90's equivalent of flipping the air cleaner lid over on old carb equipped cars. Below are three pictures of two "cones of silence." One is from my 1989 SHO with a 3.0L V6 engine (rated at 220 hp) and the other is from my 1994 Crown Victoria with the 4.6L V8 rated at 210 hp. Take a look and see if logic can let you guess correctly which one is which? The answer is on another page with a link to it at the end of this page. | |

Finally, here is a view of the sides of the cones. Overall length of the bigger one is 8.5" and the smaller one is 7" |

| Now, which one came from the 3.0L V6 Taurus and which one came from the 4.6L Crown Vic? | |
